Cultural psychiatry also deals with aspects of psychiatry as linked with somatic medicine, i.e., collaborating with services and practices of general medicine, internal medicine, surgery and the medical specialties.
Cultural psychiatry emphasizes the approach of health, illness and care, through the cultural understanding of everyone involved. The narration of the case history and the therapeutic programs are established accordingly.
This consultation has a focus on body apprenticeships across cultures and works closely with associations that deal with issues such as abuse, torture and other forms of mistreatments.
